Darras Hall Estate was set up by Joseph Whiteside Wakinshaw in 1907 stipulating many conditions to ensure a good quality of life. The estate was divided into 185 plots of approximately 5 acres each - a total of 925 acres. This was sold by auction for around 7000 in total.
An excellent book is available - 'Darras Hall, the Garden City', detailing the history of the estate and on sale at the Bookshop on Broadway.
